Verse of the Day - Sunday, May 20th, 2012
Add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and
to self-control, perserverance; and to perserverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly
kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. - 2 peter 1:5-7

    Loving God with our whole hearts, and loving our neighbor as ourselves - this is our primary
calling as Christians.  Jesus summarized the whole of God's law with these words, " 'Love the Lord
your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind [and] love your neighbor
as yourself' " (Matthew 22:37, 39).
    Yet at the risk of sounding contradictory, love is not the whole of our spiritual life because it is
only one of the virtues God wants us to have.  If we ignore the other virtues - such as joy, peace,
patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23) - our life will be
unbalanced and incomplete.
    Why are these virtues so important?  One reason is because these virtues were part of Christ's
character - and God's will is that we would become more like Christ.  In addition, as the apostle Peter
said, "If you possess these qualities in in creasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective
and unproductive" (2 Peter 1:8).
    Ask God to show you if any of these virtues are missing in your life - and then open your heart
and mind to Christ's transforming power and love. - Billy Graham

Are You Ready?
There are signs all around us that time is drawing near for our Lord's 1,000 year reign on earth.  But before this can happen, and with the sound of a trump, all Christians will be raptured.  In the blink of an eye every Christian on earth will vanish.  We will have been called up by the Lord and removed from the earth before having to endure the tribulation period mentioned in the book of Revelations.

Will you be ready when the trump sounds?  Are you ready now?  Have you prayed and accepted Jesus as your Savior?  If not, do not hesitate.  You do not want to be one of the many Left Behind to suffer the tribulation.

The Bible does not say exactly when this will happen, but it does say to keep looking up and watching for the signs.  The pieces are coming together faster now than ever in history.  Many Christians believe it will occur in our lifetime.  Please don't be one of those that is fooled and turn your head away from whats going on around you.

Even by some slim chance that it doesn't happen in our lifetime, wouldn't you rather be safe than sorry?  I know I would.  So, be prepared, watch for the signs and don't let yourself be fooled and left behind.
